Grampian Repeater Group
The repeater group is independent of Aberdeen Amateur Radio Society, but many of its members belong to both organisations. This page is provided to allow convenient access to information and documents also found on the repeater group website.
It is with sadness, it was decided at an EGM of the Grampian Repeater Group held on the 19th March 2026, that the group would be dissolved. Only 8 members attended the meeting - membership has been in steep decline for some years. The two VHF repeaters, GB3GN and GB3NG, permanently closed down and fell silent at 23:59 on 31st March 2026. GB3GN had been on air for 47 years, whilst GB3NG for 42 years. A committee has been formed to dismantle the equipment and dispose of the assets of the group. This is expected to take up to 12 months.
The repeater group maintained the 2m band amateur radio repeaters GB3GN (Banchory) and GB3NG (Fraserburgh) located in NE Scotland. The considerable running costs of the repeaters were entirely funded by the membership and donations.
