Aberdeen Amateur Radio Society took part in this years RSGB Low Power Contest 2009.
This a serious event for the QRPer, providing a choice of fixed station operation or outdoor fun.
Held on Sunday 19th July 2009 btween 0900 – 1200 UTC and 1300 – 1600 UTC
Frequencies: 3510 – 3580 KHz and 7000 – 7040 KHz Mode: CW with Exchange:RST + Serial Number + Power.

A total of 113 QSO’s and 1155 points recorded by RSGB Contest resuts
An interesting comment in the soapbox from GM3VIP says a lot about propogation and anennas.
G3VIP RIG IC7000 3W – 40M LW – Homebrew logger Plenty of /p stations. Good first session then big struggle in afternoon at times on 40m only station could hear was GM3BSQ/P at s9. Had to break couple of times rain static caused arcing in atu. Roll on some sunspots.
MM0ROV was on hand to record a video of the event which was held at Walker Park next to Girdleness Lighthouse.
